Operation of the asset management system built around WAOT for Shikoku Electric Power Transmission & Distribution is scheduled to begin in October 2026. The APM functionality will quantify equipment risk and support the formulation of renewal plans.
Toshiba announced that it will begin operating in October 2026 an asset management system built for Shikoku Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Co., Inc. The system is equipped with equipment performance management functionality built around WAOT, enabling quantitative evaluation and visualization of risk based on the probability of failures in transmission and distribution equipment and their impact when they occur. This will support data-driven planning of equipment renewals.
The background includes the aging of transmission and distribution equipment in recent years and the introduction of the revenue cap system. Utilities are required to explain rational capital investment while balancing stable supply with cost efficiency. Shikoku Electric Power Transmission & Distribution has calculated and evaluated risk based on its guidelines for renewing aging equipment. It will need to further enhance its data-driven evaluation and analysis going forward.
WAOT’s APM functionality incorporates information on transmission, transformation and distribution equipment, inspection results and deterioration data, and calculates and visualizes the risk associated with each asset. The results are displayed on a risk matrix based on failure probability and impact, supporting data-driven equipment evaluation and analysis by enabling users to identify renewal priorities.
