ROHM has outlined a policy of applying fifth-generation SiC MOSFETs to automotive modules and described the return to planar structures as the backdrop to its efforts to improve automotive drive packs.
ROHM is moving ahead with the adoption of fifth-generation SiC MOSFETs for automotive power electronics and is seeking to improve performance through a review of module design. In this context, a move back to planar structures has been described. The images show components related to 5SiC MOSFETs and diagrams of pack configurations.
The article includes photographs of multiple devices as examples of SiC MOSFET applications in automotive modules, and introduces the positioning of the drive pack’s components and related parts. The improvements over conventional structures and the benefits of the new-generation devices can be discerned.
