Reports say Instacart founder Apoorva Mehta (アプールヴァ・メータ)'s assets have returned to the billion-dollar range. Following the Wall Street Journal report that DoorDash's acquisition talks for Instacart are nearing the final stage, attention is focused on the share price movement and the value of his holdings.
Instacart's share price, the highest among U.S. food-delivery companies, rose nearly 8% on 26 October, and the assets of its founder, Apoorva Mehta (アプールヴァ・メータ), are said to have once again exceeded approximately $10 billion. The Wall Street Journal reported that DoorDash's $17 billion acquisition talks for Instacart are nearing the final stage, suggesting that Mehta's assets could increase further.
Mehta led the company for many years and continued to hold a substantial stake after its 2023 IPO. Its April 2026 Proxy Statement says he held approximately 17 million shares, equivalent to about 7% of the company's shares, and Forbes estimates that he still maintains his holdings. The calculation assumes that his assets would increase through a combination of shares and options if the acquisition talks materialize.
After leaving Instacart, Mehta continued his activities, including co-founding Bridge, a healthcare startup. This year, he founded the hedge fund Abundance, which manages investments using AI agents. His background as an immigrant has also been highlighted: he was born in India, grew up in Libya and moved to Canada, experiences said to have influenced his later founding activities.
