An event report on the “Let’s Start by Learning About Our Differences” exhibition held in Osaka and Fukuoka said that approximately 2,000 people visited over a total of 4 days. The Osaka venue was Namba CITY Galleria Court, while the Fukuoka venue was Lion Square in front of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi.
According to a visitor survey, approximately 40% of respondents were men, and a similar proportion attended with their partners. The venues featured exhibits, simulated experiences, manga and audio commentary that visualized the difficulties of menstruation and PMS, as well as the hidden burden of enduring symptoms without speaking up.
The exhibition consisted of 4 areas: Introduction, Notice, Imagine and Face. Interactive exhibits, a virtual-reality experience of menstrual pain and a depiction of lethargy were used to deepen understanding of individual differences and the perspectives of those around people experiencing these symptoms.
Tsumura, the organizer, said it plans to continue working with local communities to expand opportunities for society as a whole to consider the difficulties associated with menstruation and PMS, as well as the hidden burden of enduring symptoms.
