KOKUYO will jointly hold “Delicious Forms and Their Surroundings,” an exhibition focused on the design process behind the cafe chair “Toss (Toss)” with ものや, a Kyoto-based design studio and antique shop. The exhibition will be held at CREATION PLACE “BOXX” in THE CAMPUS at KOKUYO’s Tokyo Shinagawa Office in Minato-ku, Tokyo, from 21 to 30 October 2026.
The exhibition traces the process leading to the creation of Toss and presents records from the development team’s exploration of sensory value that cannot be fully captured through functional research alone, approached as “delicious forms.” The exhibits include notes by designers and engineers, studies created using generative AI, and records of conversations with users.
Visitors can also sit on Toss and experience it firsthand, while viewing up close the traces of testing and the materials considered during the chair’s design. The exhibition will also feature antique items selected by ものや and an interview article from the Kawai Kanjiro Memorial Museum.
The exhibition will include an interactive app experience allowing visitors to design their own chair, an exhibition of books about food, and a space where visitors can browse and purchase the research book.
