FY2027-Q1 revenue was ¥61.849 billion, up 7.0% year on year, while product sales volume also increased to 106.1% of the prior-year level. However, one-off pull-forward demand occurred ahead of the June price revision, so FY2027-H1 will be important in determining whether the recovery in volume is sustainable.

The company's ongoing themes and initiatives this watchpoint touches on.
FY2027-Q1 revenue was ¥61.849 billion, up 7.0% year on year. The main driver of the increase was product sales volume, which rose to 106.1% of the prior-year level. Sales of containers with expanded size and shape options, as well as general-purpose containers centered on eco-friendly products, remained firm. Since volume increased alongside revenue, the growth was not driven solely by price increases, which is positive.
At the same time, customers generated pull-forward demand before the company implemented product price revisions of more than 20% on shipments from 1 June. Accordingly, the 106.1% volume growth in Q1 may reflect a combination of recovery in underlying demand and shipments brought forward ahead of the price revision. Product sales volume was 99.7% of the prior-year level for FY2026 as a whole and 98.1% in FY2026-H1. A key issue for FY2027-H1 will therefore be determining whether the latest increase is a temporary rebound or a sustained recovery in demand.
In the prior year, FY2026-H1 revenue was ¥119.460 billion and ordinary profit was ¥9.346 billion. Even if FY2027-H1 revenue exceeds these levels, the quality of the growth should be viewed as limited if underlying volume excluding pull-forward demand remains below 100%. Conversely, if product sales volume remains above the prior-year level after the price revision and sales of eco-friendly products and high-functionality containers continue, the company can be viewed as having transitioned to growth supported by both volume and unit prices.
As of now, the Q1 results do not disclose revenue or volume by channel, the amount of pull-forward demand, or the shipment decline following the price revision. Next time, in addition to the year-on-year change in product sales volume, it will be important to review the breakdown for supermarkets, convenience stores, and fresh food and prepared-food customers, as well as monthly trends before and after the price revision. Whether revenue of ¥119.460 billion and ordinary profit of ¥9.346 billion for the prior-year first half can both be exceeded will be the minimum benchmark for assessing H1.
