The company's ongoing themes and initiatives this watchpoint touches on.
FY2027-Q1 revenue was ¥970 million and operating profit was ¥193 million, representing year-on-year increases of 49.9% and 478.0%, respectively. Ordinary profit of ¥214 million and net income of ¥154 million were also positive. According to the company, the main driver was golf-shaft order volumes from U.S. distributors exceeding expectations, while overall golf-equipment sales were described as almost flat. Accordingly, the recent improvement may depend more on the U.S. customer and product mix than on volume growth across the overall market.
According to media reports, the FY2027-H1 revenue forecast was raised from ¥1,421 million to ¥1,877 million, while the operating profit forecast was raised from ¥107 million to ¥381 million. Simply subtracting first-quarter results implies that the second quarter alone will need to generate approximately ¥907 million in revenue and ¥188 million in operating profit. The first-quarter operating margin was approximately 20.0%, and the operating margin calculated from the revised first-half forecast is approximately 20.3%. The focus is therefore whether the mix of high-margin in-house brands and U.S.-bound products, not only volume, can continue in the second quarter.
The full-year forecasts were also reportedly raised to revenue of ¥3,320 million and operating profit of approximately ¥525 million. This plan assumes a substantial recovery from FY2026 revenue of ¥2,711 million and operating profit of ¥156 million. However, the amounts of U.S. distributor orders, shipment timing, model-level volumes and order backlog have not been disclosed quantitatively. The explanation that order volumes exceeded expectations is insufficient to assess the repeatability of the first-half profit plan or the continuity of orders into the second half.
At the next earnings release, priority should be given to U.S. revenue or order intake, the number of shafts adopted by foreign-owned club manufacturers, model-level TOUR AD sales and order backlog. In particular, whether second-quarter revenue reaches approximately ¥907 million and operating profit reaches approximately ¥188 million, and whether the full-year forecast is maintained after the first-half target is achieved, will provide concrete criteria for assessing the quality of the upward revision.
