FY2027-Q1 revenue fell 6.2% year on year to ¥1,016.9 million, while operating profit surged to ¥109.0 million and the operating margin improved to approximately 10.7%. The company attributes the improvement to price pass-through implemented in September 2025, but the next results will need to show whether the benefits of the price increases continue to offset lower volumes and higher raw-material costs.

The company's ongoing themes and initiatives this watchpoint touches on.
FY2027-Q1 revenue was ¥1,016.862 million, down 6.2% from ¥1,083.951 million a year earlier. Operating profit, however, increased from ¥8.528 million to ¥109.030 million, lifting the operating margin from approximately 0.8% to approximately 10.7%. With sales contracting while profit improved substantially, the quarter can be characterized as one driven more by pricing and profitability improvements than by volume growth.
The company attributed the improvement in profit to price pass-through implemented in September 2025. It recorded an operating loss of ¥50 million in FY2026-H1 but recovered to operating profit of ¥15 million for FY2026 as a whole, suggesting that the effects of the price pass-through may have emerged from the second half onward. However, FY2026 included a ¥157 million gain on the sale of investment securities, which boosted profit attributable to owners of the parent. The recovery at the operating level therefore needs to be assessed separately from the recovery in net profit.
The company has not disclosed the increase in selling prices resulting from the price revisions, the increase in raw-material and labor costs, the amount absorbed through price pass-through, or the negative impact of lower volumes. Accordingly, the full ¥109 million in operating profit cannot be attributed to price pass-through, and other factors such as product mix, a reduction in low-margin projects, and changes in fixed costs may also have contributed. In particular, with revenue down 6.2% year on year, it is necessary to determine whether the higher prices represent a temporary improvement accompanied by lower volumes.
For the next period, FY2027-H1 revenue of ¥2,085 million and operating profit of ¥135 million can be used as simple 50% progress benchmarks against the full-year forecasts. These are mechanical benchmarks that do not reflect seasonality, but falling short of them in the first half would require additional price pass-through or a recovery in demand during the second half. The continuation of price pass-through, product-level profitability, changes in raw-material prices, and the absorption of logistics and labor costs will be key items to monitor in the next results.
