The company's ongoing themes and initiatives this watchpoint touches on.
Revenue increased 23.3% year on year to ¥2,407 million in FY2026, but operating profit was just ¥79 million, ordinary profit ¥95 million and net profit ¥55 million. Operating margin fell sharply to 3.3% from 13.9% in the previous fiscal year. The company is expanding its revenue base, but profit growth has not kept pace. This is the starting point for assessing the expected recovery in FY2027.
The company forecasts FY2027 revenue of ¥3,233 million, operating profit of ¥271 million, ordinary profit of ¥271 million and net profit of ¥180 million. Compared with FY2026 actual results, the plan assumes increases of ¥826 million in revenue and ¥192 million in operating profit, with operating margin recovering to approximately 8.4% on a simple calculation. To achieve the sharp 243.1% year-on-year increase projected for operating profit, not only must revenue grow, but increases in personnel expenses, recruitment costs, advertising expenses and internal infrastructure costs must remain below the rate of revenue growth.
FY2026 was positioned as a year of investment, with upfront investment in generative AI, human resources, space and product services. In FY2027-Q1, it will be necessary to assess whether operating profit can recover to above the ¥32 million recorded in FY2026-Q3 alone while investment continues, and whether revenue and operating profit can approach the simple quarterly benchmarks of approximately ¥808 million and ¥68 million, respectively. These one-quarter figures are mechanical reference points that do not account for seasonality, not quarterly forecasts provided by the company.
At the next earnings announcement, it will be necessary to check not only revenue progress against the full-year FY2027 forecast, but also operating margin, gross margin and the growth in SG&A expenses. The FY2027 forecasts by service, planned hiring and planned advertising and AI-related expenses have not yet been sufficiently disaggregated. Whether these disclosures are added in Q1 will therefore also affect the verifiability of the ¥271 million operating profit forecast.
