In Q1 of FY2027, revenue was ¥10.085 billion and operating profit was ¥1.524 billion, lifting the operating margin from 8.4% in the year-earlier quarter to 15.1%. As the results include the use of raw materials procured before the surge in raw material prices and productivity improvements, the focus will be on how much of this high profitability can be reproduced in the first half of FY2027.

Assess whether the Q1 operating margin of 15.1% can be maintained in the first half of FY2027, compared with approximately 6.8% in the year-earlier first half
Operating profit of ¥1.524 billion was recorded in Q1 against the full-year forecast of ¥2.000 billion, leaving ¥476 million to determine whether the full-year plan can be achieved
Check whether shipments of products using raw materials procured before the surge in raw material prices continued into Q2, and whether the amount of their contribution is disclosed
Check whether the amount of cost savings from productivity improvements and other measures, including the amount attributable to non-temporary effects, is disclosed
Revenue in Q1 of FY2027 was ¥10.085 billion and operating profit was ¥1.524 billion, up from ¥8.223 billion and ¥688 million, respectively, in the year-earlier quarter. The calculated operating margin was 15.1%, approximately 6.7 percentage points above the year-earlier 8.4%. Revenue increased 22.6% year on year, while operating profit rose 121.6%, meaning that profit growth substantially outpaced revenue growth.
The company attributed the higher margin to shipments of products using raw materials procured before the sharp rise in raw material prices, as well as cost savings from productivity improvements and other measures. However, it has not disclosed the profit contribution of each factor, revenue from the relevant products, or the remaining volume and expected usage period of procured raw materials. As a result, the 15.1% Q1 margin cannot be separated into sustainable improvement from selling-price revisions and temporary uplift from procurement timing.
The full-year operating profit forecast is ¥2.000 billion, and Q1 alone accounted for ¥1.524 billion, or 76.2% of that amount. On a simple calculation, only ¥476 million in operating profit is required from Q2 onward, but this is the balance for Q2 and the second half combined, not a standalone Q2 target. In the year-earlier first half, revenue was ¥15.948 billion and operating profit was ¥1.079 billion, for an operating margin of approximately 6.8%. It is therefore necessary to determine whether the high profitability seen in Q1 will continue in the first half of FY2027 or normalize toward the year-earlier level.
At the next earnings release, we will look for the standalone Q2 and cumulative first-half operating margins, the amount by which shipments of materials procured before the surge in raw material prices contributed to profit, and the amount and sustainability of cost savings from productivity improvements. 大成ラミックグループ reports a single segment and does not provide revenue or profit breakdowns by product, so quantitative explanations of price revisions, volume, material costs and cost savings, rather than segment comparisons, will provide clues to the reproducibility of the high profitability.
