FY2027-Q1 revenue rose 4.1% year on year to ¥3,059 million, while operating profit fell 50.5% to ¥113 million, reducing the operating margin to 3.7%. Next time, we will assess whether the impact of changes in the revenue mix and the increases in cost of sales, outsourcing expenses and personnel expenses has run its course, and whether profit recovers on a first-half cumulative basis.

The company's ongoing themes and initiatives this watchpoint touches on.
FY2027-Q1 revenue rose 4.1% year on year to ¥3,059 million, while operating profit fell 50.5% to ¥113 million. Operating profit declined by ¥116 million from ¥229 million in the prior-year quarter, and the operating margin fell 4.1 percentage points from approximately 7.8% to approximately 3.7%. Higher revenue did not translate directly into profit growth, making the key issue in these results the revenue mix and the ability to absorb costs rather than insufficient demand.
By segment, product services generated revenue of ¥1,046 million and operating profit of ¥211 million, down 12.0% and 46.6%, respectively, year on year. Cloud services generated revenue of ¥923 million and an operating loss of ¥94 million, while professional services generated revenue of ¥1,089 million and operating profit of ¥93 million, with the latter increasing revenue by 24.1% and operating profit by 79.7%. Accordingly, the decline in consolidated profit was driven less by a deterioration in demand across all businesses than by lower revenue and profit from product services and the continuing losses in cloud services.
The full-year forecasts are revenue of ¥13,250 million, operating profit of ¥1,050 million, ordinary profit of ¥1,240 million and net profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥1,120 million. Q1 progress was only 23.1% for revenue, 10.8% for operating profit and 13.1% for net profit. Simply subtracting Q1 actual results from the full-year forecasts means that the remaining period must generate ¥10,191 million in revenue, ¥937 million in operating profit and ¥973 million in net profit. Since the source information does not allow us to assess the effects of seasonality or the timing of project recognition, the next results should be checked for cumulative Q2 performance and whether the full-year forecasts are maintained or revised.
The company cited increases in the cost of sales, including procurement and outsourcing expenses, associated with changes in the revenue mix, as well as higher personnel expenses, as reasons for the decline in profit, but did not disclose the amount attributable to each factor. In FY2027-H1, we will assess whether the operating margin approaches the prior-year level, whether the decline in product-service profit narrows and whether the cloud-service loss does not expand, in order to determine whether this is temporary cost front-loading or a structural deterioration in profitability.
