In Q1 of the fiscal year ending March 2027, revenue was ¥4,355 million, down 2.5% year on year, while operating profit turned positive at ¥522 million. Higher profitability in the Games business absorbed losses in the Content business. For FY2027-H1, the focus is on whether profit progress is sufficient to meet the full-year forecast.

Whether the full-year forecasts of ¥18,000 million in revenue, ¥1,000 million in operating profit, ¥900 million in ordinary profit and ¥600 million in net profit are maintained
Revenue in Q1 of the fiscal year ending March 2027 was ¥4,355 million, down 2.5% year on year. Operating profit was ¥522 million, ordinary profit was ¥512 million and net profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥323 million, with all three turning positive from operating, ordinary and net losses in the year-earlier quarter. Operating margin was approximately 12.0% based on a simple calculation, although the earnings report does not disclose an operating margin figure.
By segment, the Games business reported revenue of ¥4,145 million and segment profit of ¥793 million. Revenue declined 4.2% year on year, but profit increased 545.7%. The company cited lower software amortisation and advertising expenses, a narrower loss from unprofitable titles and lower payment processing fees as factors behind the improvement. The Games business had a Q1 margin of approximately 19.1% and was almost entirely responsible for the group's return to profitability.
The Content business, by contrast, reported revenue of ¥209 million and a segment loss of ¥270 million. Revenue increased 35.3% year on year, but investment in new businesses, production costs for new series and recruitment costs for IP production personnel were incurred ahead of the contribution from higher publication volumes and popular titles. In H1, the key issue is not only whether revenue growth in the Content business continues, but also whether the loss expands beyond Q1's ¥270 million or the business reaches a stage where it can absorb its investment burden.
The full-year forecasts remain ¥18,000 million in revenue, ¥1,000 million in operating profit, ¥900 million in ordinary profit and ¥600 million in net profit attributable to owners of the parent, with no revision as of Q1. A simple half-year progress benchmark is ¥9,000 million in revenue and ¥500 million in operating profit. If operating profit exceeds this level in FY2027-H1, it will be easier to view the Q1 front-loading of profit as non-transitory. Conversely, if the Games business margin declines while the Content business loss expands, the issue will be whether this is compatible with the planned increase in advertising and development expenses in H2. The company did not prepare a quarterly consolidated cash flow statement for Q1, so the next results will also need to confirm whether the improvement in profit translated into operating cash generation.
