First-half FY2026 revenue was ¥1.9861 trillion, up 17.7% year on year, operating profit was ¥644.9 billion, up 29.0%, and profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥431.8 billion, up 28.9%. Profit growth outpaced top-line growth in the first half. Whether price and mix, foreign exchange and the cost structure lifted margins, rather than the results reflecting revenue growth alone, will be a key issue in assessing full-year delivery.
The full-year forecasts provided by the company are revenue of ¥3.885 trillion, adjusted operating profit of ¥1.035 trillion, operating profit of ¥1.008 trillion, net income of ¥644.0 billion and free cash flow of ¥651.0 billion. Dividing the first-half results by the full-year forecasts gives progress rates of approximately 51.1% for revenue and 64.0% for operating profit. Operating profit progress is approximately 12.9 percentage points ahead of revenue progress. However, the earnings presentation materials do not explicitly state progress rates against the full-year forecasts, so a point to confirm in FY2026-Q3 is how the company describes its 9-month cumulative position.
Based on the current full-year forecasts, the second half needs to generate revenue of ¥1.8989 trillion and operating profit of ¥363.1 billion. These are not newly provided second-half forecasts, but the differences between the first-half results and the full-year forecasts. The earnings presentation materials state that growth will slow in the second half compared with the first half, mainly because total sales volume will decline. FY2026-Q3 therefore needs to distinguish whether the 9-month cumulative results simply reflect the strong first half or are at a level capable of absorbing the slowdown expected in the second half.
The key question is whether the full-year forecasts will be maintained or revised upward or downward again. Revenue, operating profit, net income and FCF forecasts should be reviewed together to determine whether the strong operating profit progress is flowing through to cash generation and bottom-line profit. In addition, the first-half materials do not disclose standalone results for April–June. Whether FY2026-Q3 provides standalone July–September figures or second-half results by region and business will also help assess the quality of the disclosure.
