FY2027-Q1 revenue increased 1.9% year on year, while operating profit fell 8.7%, so higher revenue did not translate into profit growth. In FY2027-H1, we will look not only at profit progress against the full-year plan, but also whether the decline in margins is temporary or ongoing.

Will operating, investing and financing cash flows, which were not disclosed for Q1, be disclosed with the H1 results?
The company's ongoing themes and initiatives this watchpoint touches on.
FY2027-Q1 revenue increased 1.9% year on year to ¥4,263 million, while operating profit fell 8.7% to ¥297 million, ordinary profit fell 8.4% to ¥308 million, and quarterly net profit attributable to owners of the parent fell 7.8% to ¥210 million. Revenue growth alone was not enough to lift profit, and the next FY2027-H1 results will need to be assessed for the relationship between the quality of revenue growth and the cost burden.
Operating margin calculated on a simple basis was approximately 6.98% in FY2027-Q1. In the year-earlier period, revenue was ¥4,182.9 million and operating profit was ¥326.1 million, implying an operating margin of approximately 7.80%, a decline of approximately 0.81 percentage points year on year. In the H1 results, we will look not only at whether revenue exceeded the year-earlier period, but also whether operating margin declined further year on year or whether the extent of the Q1 decline narrowed.
The company’s FY2027 full-year forecasts are revenue of ¥17,000 million, operating profit of ¥718 million, ordinary profit of ¥720 million and net profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥457 million. Simple progress against the full-year forecasts was approximately 25.1% for revenue, 41.5% for operating profit and 46.2% for net profit in Q1. However, Tabio’s sales are seasonal and concentrated in the second half because of the characteristics of cold-weather socks, so performance cannot be assessed simply against 25% or 50% benchmarks. H1 results need to be evaluated against both the year-earlier results and the full-year plan.
In FY2026, operating profit was ¥884 million on revenue of ¥16,812 million, with improved margins supporting results more than revenue growth. By contrast, the FY2027 full-year plan calls for revenue to increase approximately 1.1% year on year while operating profit declines approximately 18.8%. In FY2027-H1, we will determine from both the company’s explanations and its results whether the full-year plan is conservatively set or whether the Q1 profit decline reflects a structural issue incorporated into the full-year plan.
The company did not prepare a quarterly consolidated statement of cash flows for Q1, and cash flow from operating activities and other items were not disclosed. A statement of cash flows is normally disclosed with the H1 results, so it will also be necessary to confirm whether operating cash flow is being secured alongside profit recovery and the extent of investing and financing outlays.
Contradicted
In FY2027-H1, revenue was ¥8,084 million, up 1.8% year on year, while operating profit was ¥304 million, down 13.9%. The operating margin also declined 0.7 percentage points from approximately 4.5% in the year-earlier period to 3.8%, and the decline in margins that began in 1Q did not recover in the first half. Although the gross margin improved, higher SG&A expenses and increased tariff costs in the US business put pressure on operating profit.

Operating profit, which expanded in FY2026 despite broadly flat revenue, is set to decline in the FY2027 plan.
