First-quarter revenue was ¥61,395 million, up just 0.4% year on year, while operating profit improved to ¥5,062 million and the operating margin to 8.25%. However, net profit includes ¥3,000 million in settlement proceeds, so in FY2027-H1 it will be necessary to verify, on an operating-profit basis, whether the improvement in construction profitability is continuing.

Whether the first-half cumulative operating margin maintains or exceeds the first-quarter level of 8.25%
Whether first-half cumulative operating profit approaches ¥12,000 million, the simple 50% benchmark against the full-year forecast of ¥24,000 million
Whether the amount and nature of extraordinary income and extraordinary losses other than the ¥3,000 million in settlement proceeds are disclosed
Whether a new driver-based bridge quantifying the improvement in construction profitability is disclosed
First-quarter revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2027 was ¥61,395 million, up just 0.4% from ¥61,158 million in the same period of the previous year. Operating profit, however, rose 47.6% to ¥5,062 million from ¥3,429 million, lifting the operating margin from approximately 5.61% to approximately 8.25%, a 2.64-point increase. As profit grew sharply while revenue was essentially flat, the key issue for FY2027-H1 will be whether this margin improvement is continuing as an improvement in construction profitability rather than being a temporary quarterly factor.
The company cited higher construction profitability and the recognition of settlement proceeds as factors behind the profit increase. The settlement proceeds were ¥3,000 million in extraordinary income and affected net profit rather than operating profit. In fact, profit for the quarter attributable to owners of the parent rose 113.4% year on year to ¥4,387 million, well above the growth in operating profit. Extraordinary losses were limited to ¥21 million in losses on the disposal of fixed assets. In the first-half results, it will therefore be necessary to distinguish any additional settlement proceeds, gains on sales of investment securities and impairment losses, including their amounts, from the improvement in operating profit.
For comparison, in the fiscal year ended March 2026, revenue was ¥272,468 million, operating profit was ¥21,421 million and the operating margin was 7.9%. The financial details show cost of sales of ¥224,020 million and gross profit of ¥48,447 million, a substantial improvement from ¥40,475 million in the previous fiscal year. However, full-year extraordinary income also totaled ¥3,080 million, including a ¥2,085 million gain on sales of investment securities, ¥501 million in insurance proceeds and ¥488 million in damages received. Given that ¥3,000 million in settlement proceeds was recognized in the latest first quarter alone, it is important when assessing FY2027-H1 net profit not to conflate operating-profit growth with the recurrence of extraordinary gains and losses.
The first-quarter earnings explanation qualitatively attributed performance to increased volumes of distribution-line construction and improved construction profitability, but did not provide a driver-based bridge showing how many hundreds of millions of yen each revenue change and profitability improvement contributed to profit. In the first-half results, operating profit, the operating margin, profit from the equipment construction business and the breakdown of extraordinary income will need to be reviewed together to determine whether the 8.25% operating margin is being maintained and whether profit growth still exceeds the year-earlier level excluding the settlement proceeds.
¥ million
Revenue was essentially flat, while operating profit increased sharply. The sustainability of the profitability improvement will be a key focus for the first half.
