In Q1 of FY2027, revenue rose 2.0% year on year to ¥2,095.7 million, while operating profit turned into an operating loss of ¥7.988 million, compared with operating profit of ¥5.1 million in the prior-year quarter. Price revisions and strong sales of frozen processed foods and chicken supported revenue growth, but higher raw material, packaging and labour costs, together with lower direct-to-consumer revenue, weighed on profit. In H1, the focus will be on whether price pass-through can absorb the increase in costs.

Whether cumulative operating results through Q2 return to a profit above ¥0 million
Whether the operating margin improves from negative 0.38% in Q1 to 0.0% or higher
Whether the contribution of price revisions to revenue and profit is disclosed quantitatively for the first time
Whether the increase in raw material, packaging and labour costs, or their impact on operating profit, is disclosed
In Q1, from April to June 2026, revenue rose 2.0% to ¥2,095.650 million from ¥2,055.401 million in the prior-year quarter. However, operating profit fell from ¥5.091 million in the prior-year quarter to an operating loss of ¥7.988 million, while the operating margin declined by approximately 0.63 percentage points, from approximately 0.25% to negative 0.38%. Revenue growth has not translated directly into operating profit, making the quality of that growth the most important issue in these results.
The company attributed the increase in revenue to strong sales of frozen processed foods and chicken, as well as product price revisions. At the same time, it said that higher costs for raw materials and packaging, increased labour costs and lower direct-to-consumer revenue pushed down operating profit. However, it has not disclosed the increase in revenue attributable to price revisions, the increases in raw material, packaging and labour costs individually, or the respective contributions of volume and unit prices. In FY2027 H1, it will be necessary to check whether the company discloses the impact of at least these individual factors or provides its gross margin.
Although operating results were negative, Q1 ordinary profit was ¥6 million and profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥1 million. A bottom-line profit therefore cannot by itself confirm a recovery in core operating profitability. The minimum H1 validation threshold will be whether ordinary profit continues to exceed operating profit and whether operating results return to a profit above ¥0 million on a cumulative basis through Q2.
The full-year operating profit forecast remains ¥70 million, but the company posted an operating loss of ¥7.988 million in Q1. Meeting the full-year forecast requires accumulating operating profit of ¥77.988 million from Q2 onward. On a simple average basis, this would require operating profit of approximately ¥26 million per quarter over the remaining 3 quarters. In the H1 results, priority should be given not to revenue growth alone, but to whether the operating margin has returned to 0.0% or higher and whether price revisions have outpaced cost increases.
¥ millions
Revenue increased, but operating profit turned from a profit to a loss, meaning that revenue growth has not translated into improved profitability.
