Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

In the supermarket business, revenue and profit increased, driven by growth in same-store sales, new store openings, and the contribution from the consolidation of 株式会社ドミー and its subsidiaries. Overall, selling, general and administrative expenses increased due to new store openings, personnel costs, logistics costs and system-related expenses, but this was absorbed by the effect of higher revenue and an increase in gross profit. Net profit increased substantially, mainly due to extraordinary income including a ¥2,281 million gain on revision of retirement benefit plans.
