「The analysis found that, under the 1.5°C scenario, the impact of higher procurement costs for raw materials and energy resulting from the introduction of a carbon tax, as well as higher costs from taxation on the Company's CO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2 emissions), would be significant. Conversely, lower costs resulting from improvements to the logistics system aimed at building a decarbonized society were identified as an opportunity.」
It continues to disclose analysis of climate-related risks and opportunities based on the 1.5°C and 4°C scenarios, together with estimates of their financial impact. - FY2023First statedAnnual report
「The analysis found that, under the 1.5°C scenario, the impact of higher procurement costs for raw materials and energy resulting from the introduction of a carbon tax, as well as higher costs from taxation on the Company's CO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2 emissions), would be significant. Conversely, lower costs resulting from improvements to the logistics system aimed at building a decarbonized society were identified as an opportunity. Under the 4°C scenario, loss of opportunities resulting from more severe natural disasters was identified as a risk, while increased demand for the Company's products and sales growth resulting from higher average temperatures were identified as opportunities.」
It established 1.5°C and 4°C scenarios and identified climate-related transition risks, physical risks and opportunities. Based on fiscal 2021 Scope 1 and 2 emissions of 24,614 tCO2, it estimated additional costs of ¥320 million if emissions remained at the same level in 2030, and cost savings of ¥120 million if the reduction target were achieved.
