In light of the expectation that maintenance and renewal investments will continue, the depreciation method for building fixtures and structures was changed from the declining-balance method to the straight-line method. The change is intended to improve consistency with the accounting treatment for the buildings themselves and appropriately reflect economic substance by allocating costs evenly over their useful lives. The change concerns maintenance and renewal investments planned from the second quarter onward and has no impact on the financial statements for the first quarter.
