The Disaster Prevention and Infrastructure business reported higher profit despite a decline following the completion of disaster-recovery-related work connected with the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, supported by higher sales, stringent cost management and productivity improvements. The Environment and Energy business reported lower sales and profit due to declining demand for detailed surveys related to offshore wind power generation, the timing of revenue recognition for large projects being weighted toward the second half, some domestic subsidiaries falling short of their sales targets, and costs being incurred ahead of revenue. In the International business, demand in Asia-Pacific remained firm, but the operating loss widened due to lower sales at the U.S. subsidiary resulting from stagnant offshore wind markets in Europe and the United States and geopolitical factors.
