  4. FY2020-Q1First statedAnnual report

「The Company and certain consolidated subsidiaries had previously mainly used the declining-balance method to depreciate property, plant and equipment, but changed to the straight-line method from the current first quarter of the consolidated fiscal year. This change was made because, after reconsidering the depreciation method from the perspectives of standardizing the Group's accounting policies and ensuring more appropriate period-based profit measurement, the Company determined that, based on past investment and usage results and future investment and usage plans, property, plant and equipment is expected to operate stably over the long term within its useful lives. Accordingly, the straight-line method was judged to be a reasonable method that more appropriately reflects the actual condition of the property, plant and equipment.」

From the first quarter of the current consolidated fiscal year, the depreciation method for property, plant and equipment held by the Company and certain consolidated subsidiaries was changed from the declining-balance method to the straight-line method. The change was made to standardize the Group's accounting policies and ensure more appropriate period-based profit measurement, increasing operating income, ordinary income and quarterly net income before income taxes and other adjustments by ¥6.601 million each.
