Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Improved revenue following a review of contract rates, a shift toward growth areas, increased orders in such areas as semiconductors, telecommunications equipment components, embedded software development and medical equipment design and development, orders for internally developed packaged software, improved contract terms, and strong demand for network construction, operation and maintenance, and information security services all contributed to higher sales and profits. These factors were partly offset by the impact of the special 50th-anniversary bonus paid in the previous fiscal year, despite improvements in employee compensation, including higher salary levels.
