Decline in Gas Demand Due to the Kumamoto Earthquake, Temperatures and Other Factors

「Urban gas sales volume declined 2.2% from the same period of the previous year to 209,592 thousand m³. Residential gas sales volume declined 6.9% to 49,510 thousand m³, mainly because average temperatures were higher than in the same period of the previous year. Commercial gas sales volume was 132,715 thousand m³, broadly in line with the same period of the previous year. Gas sales volume supplied wholesale to other operators declined 4.8% to 27,367 thousand m³ due to lower demand from wholesale customers.」

「当第１四半期連結累計期間の都市ガス事業におけるお客さま数は113万5千戸であり、都市ガス販売量は前期に比べ8.7％減の190,011千㎥となった。業務用ガス販売量については、飲食店を中心とした営業自粛や工業用分野の工場停止・生産調整の影響等により18.0％減の105,014千㎥となった。家庭用ガス販売量は、外出自粛の影響等によりガス使用量が増加したことから、前期に比べ5.3％増の62,610千㎥となった。また、他のガス事業者への卸供給ガス販売量については、卸供給先の需要増等により、8.5％増の22,387千㎥となった。」

Wholesale gas sales to other gas operators increased 25.5% to 16,192 thousand m³ because of higher demand from wholesale customers and other factors.」

Commercial gas sales volume increased 1.6% year on year, despite the impact of the Kumamoto Earthquake, mainly because of higher demand for commercial air conditioning. Wholesale gas sales volume declined 0.1% year on year. As a result, urban gas sales volume declined 0.2% year on year to 614,682 thousand m³.」

Commercial gas sales volume increased 0.6% year on year, despite the impact of the earthquake, mainly because of higher demand for commercial air conditioning. Wholesale gas sales volume declined 0.9% year on year because of lower demand from wholesale customers. As a result, urban gas sales volume declined 1.0% year on year to 409,104 thousand m³.」
