The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the second quarter, revenue increased as electricity sales volumes rose in the domestic energy business, while time-lag losses associated with higher crude oil prices weighed on ordinary income. Profit excluding the time-lag impact increased due to improved competitiveness of long-term LNG contracts and higher earnings from the US and Australian businesses. The full-year forecast was raised due to improved competitiveness of long-term LNG contracts, higher earnings at the US Freeport liquefaction facility and higher earnings from the Australian upstream business.
