In the domestic energy business, lower gas and LNG selling prices under the fuel cost adjustment system resulted in lower sales and earnings. The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Net sales declined mainly because gas and LNG selling prices under the fuel cost adjustment system remained relatively low. Profit increased as higher earnings in the overseas energy business, including the U.S. Freeport LNG liquefaction facility and U.S. upstream operations, more than offset lower earnings in the domestic energy business. Ordinary income is expected to decline in the next fiscal year because of lower earnings from electricity market trading and higher depreciation expenses following the start of operations at Units 1 and 2 of the Himeji Natural Gas Power Plant.
