The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The energy-saving support services business posted higher revenue and income following the completion of facility renewal and other construction projects. In the green energy business, electricity transmitted increased, while power plant maintenance costs, ash disposal costs, personnel expenses and depreciation also increased. The power retail business posted higher revenue following an expansion in contracted electricity volumes, but the increase in fixed-price contracts and rising market prices put pressure on operating income. In addition, gains on the valuation of derivatives were recorded as electricity futures prices rose.
