FY2017-Q3DroppedAnnual report
「On 26 March 2015, we announced a plan to modify the boiler and fuel facilities at Ako Power Station in order to change the fuel used from the current heavy oil and crude oil to coal, and had been preparing for an environmental impact assessment and other procedures. However, since the announcement of the plan, electricity demand in the Kansai region has declined as power-saving practices have become established and energy conservation has progressed, and no significant growth is expected going forward. In addition, an energy mix for 2030 was formulated in July 2015 and the government established greenhouse-gas reduction targets, creating a need to strengthen measures to reduce CO2 emissions. After considering these and other changes in the business environment surrounding the Company, on 31 January 2017 we reviewed the fuel conversion plan for Ako Power Station and decided to continue operating with the current heavy oil and crude oil fuel.」
The plan to modify the boiler and fuel facilities to convert the fuel from heavy oil and crude oil to coal was reviewed, cancelled on 31 January 2017, and operations using the current fuel were continued.
