FY2021First statedAnnual report
「In 2018, we established the NIMS-SoftBank Advanced Technology Development Center jointly with the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and have conducted development research aimed at the practical application of lithium-air batteries for mobile base stations, IoT, HAPS and other uses. We have now clarified that the cycle life of high-energy-density lithium-air batteries is governed by the ratio of electrolyte volume to areal capacity. Based on these findings, we will establish methods to suppress side reactions within lithium-air batteries, leading to their early practical application through the NIMS-SoftBank Advanced Technology Development Center.」
With applications for base stations, IoT and HAPS, among others, in mind, the company identified the primary factor determining the cycle life of lithium-air batteries through joint research with NIMS. It aims to establish methods for suppressing side reactions and achieve early practical application.
