Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Revenue increased in all segments. The main drivers were higher sales of ICT-related products for corporate customers, recurring-revenue products and consumer products in Distribution; demand for digitalization-related solutions in Enterprise; higher transaction volumes for QR code payments and credit cards in Finance; increased merchandise and mobile sales in Consumer; and higher commerce sales excluding ASKUL and strategic sales in Media and EC. Operating profit increased in Finance, Enterprise, Consumer and Distribution, more than offsetting the decline in Media and EC.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue increased in all segments, driven by growth in ICT and cloud products for corporate customers, solutions related to digitalization, transaction volumes for QR code payments and credit cards, and merchandise sales. Operating profit declined in the Media and EC business due mainly to system disruptions, while profit increased in the Finance, Enterprise, Consumer and Distribution businesses. For the next fiscal year, the company expects revisions to communication fees, demand for cloud, AI and mobile services, a recovery from the impact of system disruptions at ASKUL and fixed-cost reductions, as well as growth in payment and financial services.
