FY2022-Q2First statedAnnual report
「Against this backdrop, consolidated net sales for the six months ended 30 September 2021 increased by ¥20,472 million, or 11.7%, year on year to ¥194,950 million. The Media and Content business, the Group's principal business, posted a sharp increase due to revenue from sports broadcasting programs, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the recovery in spot advertising revenue. In the Lifestyle and Health-related business, although operations were affected by COVID-19, requests for sports club closures were limited. Operating profit increased by ¥15,221 million, or 166.9%, to ¥24,341 million, and ordinary profit increased by ¥16,598 million, or 148.2%, to ¥27,797 million. Profit attributable to owners of the parent increased by ¥24,096 million to ¥18,440 million, compared with a loss attributable to owners of the parent of ¥5,656 million in the year-earlier period. This was due partly to the absence in the current period of the gain on the sale of investment securities recorded as extraordinary income and the impairment losses related to the Lifestyle and Health-related business recorded as extraordinary losses in the year-earlier period, as well as the smaller losses attributable to COVID-19 recorded as extraordinary losses.」
