Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Revenue declined due to the decrease in the handling volume of coal and ilmenite. Cost of sales increased due to higher depreciation related to capital investment and higher cargo-handling expenses arising from special operations related to tank operations for liquid cargo. Selling, general and administrative expenses increased due to higher running costs and depreciation associated with the launch of the new system. Net income was also affected by the absence of settlement proceeds received in the previous year.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue declined mainly because the handling volume of coal and ilmenite decreased. On the earnings side, depreciation related to capital investment, running costs for a new system, and special operating expenses for tank operations for liquid cargo increased. Net income was also affected by the absence of settlement proceeds received in the previous year.
