Although the volume of imports and exports of steel products and other materials declined, revenue exceeded forecast due to increases in the handling volume of air cargo, exports related to construction machinery, and workload related to steelmaking. Differences also arose in each profit line below operating profit, owing to lower repair expenses following a review of the repair plan and lower personnel expenses because the number of hires fell short of plan. The full-year forecast has not been revised because one subsidiary receives a concentration of orders in the third quarter.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although the volume of imports and exports of steel products and other materials declined, the handling volume of air cargo, exports related to construction machinery, and workload related to steelmaking increased. In addition, repair expenses declined following a review of the repair plan for property, plant and equipment, while personnel expenses were kept down because the number of hires in the first half fell short of plan.
