Revised forecast
Fiscal year ending March 2027 · Cumulative second quarter and full-year periodsPrevious forecast published 13 May 2026The bar length represents the relative magnitude of change, based on the item that changed the most in this document. The percentage change shown by the dotted line is calculated from the two reported figures because the company did not provide the rate.
Revenue and profit for the cumulative second quarter period fell below forecast because sales volumes in the rice wholesale business fell short of plan, selling prices declined more than expected as the rice supply-demand balance eased, high-priced rice from the 2025 crop was sold at a loss, and inventory valuation losses were recognized. As declines in selling prices, lower sales volumes and the impact of loss-making sales of rice from the 2025 crop are expected from the third quarter onward, the full-year forecast was revised downward.

These are items the company does not state in this document. We do not leave them blank, nor fill them in from other sources or by inference.
The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the rice wholesale business of the Food Company, sales volumes, particularly to mass retailers, fell short of plan, while selling prices declined more than expected as the rice supply-demand balance eased. In addition, loss-making sales of rice from the 2025 crop procured at high prices and the recognition of inventory valuation losses weighed on profit. Although declines in selling prices, lower sales volumes and the impact of loss-making sales of rice from the 2025 crop are expected from the third quarter onward, the Company stated that these effects could not be fully offset by solid performance from other companies and increased gains on the sale of policy-held shares.
