The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Profit declined because the sharp rise in fuel oil prices was not reflected in the fuel oil price adjustment charge quickly enough, while cargo costs, crew costs and materials and equipment costs increased, and the Chinese economy stagnated on nearshore routes. The interim net loss attributable to owners of the parent resulted from the recognition of ¥2,288 million in impairment losses on vessels in the shipping business. The full-year forecast was revised based on the interim results and the expected recognition of approximately ¥2.2 billion in gains on the sale of investment securities.
