The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the Reliability Evaluation business, orders for high-value projects, complex testing projects, and testing involving vibration, temperature changes and salt water remained strong. In the Micromachining business, orders grew from prototype machining related to communications to mass-production projects, and orders related to materials also increased. Operating income increased despite the impact of higher research and development expenses. Ordinary income benefited from subsidy income related to the MAP Project and other projects, while net income benefited from the reversal of the impact of an impairment loss on investment securities recorded in the previous fiscal year.
