The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the real estate sales business, the number of units sold increased, but profit margins per unit declined, and selling prices were adjusted for detached-home properties held for the long term. In the real estate management business, low occupancy rates at properties of a Chinese subsidiary had an adverse impact, while a review of domestic operations and cost optimization contributed to profit. Overall, upfront costs were also incurred to expand the businesses.
