The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue benefited from rent per unit remaining at a high level, mainly under corporate leases. Cost of sales increased due to enhanced maintenance, while SG&A expenses rose year on year due to improved employee compensation and an increase in headcount, but remained below plan as various expenses, including commission fees, were controlled. Non-operating expenses included ¥900 million in interest expense. Extraordinary losses included a ¥10 billion loss on the cancellation of treasury stock acquisition rights in the first quarter. Net income included ¥8.2 billion in income taxes—deferred. In the rental business, corporate leases, particularly leases involving foreign nationals, pushed up occupancy and rent per unit. In the development business, expanded orders in the first year since the full-scale resumption enabled the company to achieve its plan for the number of buildings ordered, number of units ordered, and order value.
