The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Premium and other income increased, mainly because sales at Dai-ichi Frontier Life increased. The decrease in net income attributable to owners of the parent was due mainly to the application of the new U.S. insurance accounting standards at Protective Life Corporation. For the next fiscal year, ordinary income is expected to decline due mainly to a decrease in investment income at Protective Life Corporation, while ordinary profit and net income are expected to increase, driven mainly by growth in the overseas life insurance business.
