The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The primary factors were the benefits of policy rate hikes from a loan portfolio centered on variable-rate lending, and higher net interest income due to increased interest income from securities and current account deposits at the Bank of Japan. Growth in the loan balance and a wider loan-deposit spread also contributed. Meanwhile, expenses increased, mainly due to personnel expenses and strategic system-related costs, while gains and losses on bonds and other securities deteriorated as yen-denominated bonds were replaced.
