Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Amid favorable market conditions, stock brokerage commissions and performance fees from wrap products increased, while trust fees and other income rose as assets under custody in stock-based products grew. Trading income, however, declined due mainly to a decrease in domestic over-the-counter trading of foreign equities, while selling, general and administrative expenses increased due mainly to higher transaction-related expenses. Extraordinary income totaled ¥866 million, attributable to gains on sales of investment securities.
