The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenues were boosted by growth in transaction and clearing-related revenues driven by buoyant Japanese equity markets, an increase in collateral management revenues from interest rate swap transactions, and higher trading value in stocks and other securities and trading volume in long-term Japanese government bond futures. On the expense side, personnel expenses increased due to wage increases and other factors, as did system maintenance and support costs and rebates to clearing participants related to collateral management for interest rate swap transactions.
