Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Interest income on operating loans increased due to an increase in operating loans. The provision for losses on interest repayment claims decreased. Net income increased primarily because the adjustment of corporate income taxes and other taxes increased in the direction of higher income following a change in the company classification used to assess the recoverability of deferred tax assets. In the Credit Guarantee Business, bad-debt-related expenses increased, resulting in lower operating income. In the Overseas Financial Business, profit increased, primarily because bad-debt-related expenses decreased, despite the impact of the weaker yen on foreign exchange.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

The increase in operating revenue and operating income was attributed to higher interest income on operating loans resulting from an increase in operating loans, and a decrease in the provision for losses on interest repayment claims. The primary reason for the increase in net income attributable to owners of the parent was an increase in income in the adjustment of corporate income taxes and other taxes following a change in the company classification used to assess the recoverability of deferred tax assets.
