「Under the management plan "Sparkle 125th," which began in the current fiscal year, the Bank plans to rebuild branches and other business premises to strengthen sales and improve customer convenience, as well as invest in the renewal of office equipment and other assets. After comprehensively reviewing the nature of these property, plant and equipment investments, the Bank determined that its branches and other business premises and office equipment are used over long, stable periods and that their value in use remains broadly constant throughout their useful lives. Accordingly, it determined that changing the depreciation method from the declining-balance method to the straight-line method would more appropriately reflect actual operating conditions.」
In light of the branch reconstruction and office equipment renewal investments under Sparkle 125th, the Bank changed the depreciation method for branches and other business premises and office equipment from the declining-balance method to the straight-line method to reflect their actual usage. As a result of the change, ordinary income and other measures increased by ¥48 million in the first quarter.
