The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Ordinary revenue increased mainly due to higher fund investment income, driven primarily by an increase in interest on loans, as well as higher gains on sales of stocks and other securities. Ordinary expenses increased due to higher losses on sales of Japanese government bonds and other bonds and higher interest on deposits. The full-year forecast was left unchanged because stock markets, interest rates and foreign exchange markets have been experiencing significant volatility, making it necessary to scrutinize the earnings outlook from the second quarter onward. The dividend forecast for Class 4 preferred shares was revised based on the calculated amount using the funding cost as the preferred dividend rate announced by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan.
