Reason for the revision

Increased transaction volume in the bullion gold purchasing business against a backdrop of soaring gold prices, higher earnings resulting from promotional initiatives and expanded sales floor space in the department store business, and ¥6 million in cost savings from the continuation of low-cost operations and the earlier-than-planned acquisition of space at the Yokosuka store. Ordinary income fell below the forecast because part of the gain on donation of fixed assets was deferred to the second half of the fiscal year.

Previous-period resultsConsolidated: net sales of ¥2,360 million, operating income of ¥59 million, ordinary income of ¥103 million, interim net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥99 million, and interim net income per share of ¥20.11. Non-consolidated: net sales of ¥2,360 million, operating income of ¥57 million, ordinary income of ¥181 million, interim net income of ¥177 million, and interim net income per share of ¥35.84.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

In the bullion gold purchasing business, transaction volume increased to more than approximately 150% of the previous year against a backdrop of soaring gold prices. Promotional initiatives and expanded sales floor space in the department store business also contributed to earnings. In addition, costs were reduced by ¥6 million through the continuation of low-cost operations and the earlier-than-planned acquisition of space at the Yokosuka store. However, ordinary income fell below the forecast because part of the gain on donation of fixed assets was deferred to the second half of the fiscal year.
