Revised forecast
Fiscal year ending February 2027 · Second quarter (interim period) and full yearPrevious forecast published 10 April 2026 (including the corrected disclosure dated 1 May 2026)The bar length represents the relative magnitude of change, based on the item that changed the most in this document. The percentage change shown by the dotted line is calculated from the two reported figures because the company did not provide the rate.
Although measures were implemented to restore customer numbers and improve average spend per customer, both customer numbers and average spend per customer fell below plan. The revenue shortfall led to an increase in inventories, while the discount rate exceeded plan due to discount sales and point rebates, causing the gross profit margin to deteriorate. This could not be offset by controlling selling, general and administrative expenses, and there was also an impact from extraordinary losses, including impairment losses, and from the adjustment to income taxes resulting from the reversal of deferred tax assets.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the first half, customer numbers and average spend per customer fell below plan, resulting in a shortfall in revenue and an increase in inventories, while the gross profit margin also deteriorated due to discount sales and point rebates. This could not be offset by controlling selling, general and administrative expenses, and there was also an impact from extraordinary losses, including impairment losses, and from the adjustment to income taxes resulting from the reversal of deferred tax assets. The full-year forecast has been revised on the assumption that sales promotion measures, product mix, the sales structure, and inventory and procurement will be reviewed in the second half.
