The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. For the cumulative period, higher gross profit resulting from increases in selling prices in response to rising raw material prices, together with the effect of higher revenue, drove profit growth. In the three months from May through July, the higher cost ratio and increased selling, general and administrative expenses were factors contributing to lower profit.
