The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The consolidated subsidiaries in the Energy Business and Product Business performed well, driving increases in revenue and operating profit. In the Energy Business, deliveries of power plant construction projects progressed smoothly. In the Industrial Machinery Business, performance improved through deliveries of functional film manufacturing plants and other projects. In the Product Business, Nippon Dia Valve and the Tsurumi (Europe) GmbH group performed steadily. Meanwhile, profit was weighed down by the absence of the negative goodwill recognized in the previous fiscal year and a decrease in gains on the sale of cross-held shares.
