The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Net sales declined due to sluggish sales in Asia and North America, as well as downward pressure on sales and profits caused by the stronger yen against the U.S. dollar. Although the increase in raw material costs and labor costs caused by inflation was partially offset by fixed-cost reductions, the effect could not be fully absorbed, and operating income was also affected by additional U.S. tariffs. Ordinary income declined due to the decrease in operating income and the recording of a loss on the repayment of subsidies. Net income was affected by a gain on the sale of fixed assets of ¥13,880 million, tender offer-related expenses of ¥911 million, income taxes of ¥3,401 million, and other factors.
