The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.During the interim period, orders remained solid across all product groups except functional films, while production efficiency improvements, reductions in selling, general and administrative expenses and other costs, and lower amortization expenses following the recognition of impairment losses in the previous fiscal year caused net sales, operating income and ordinary income to exceed the forecasts. Interim net income exceeded the forecast mainly because gains on the sale of investment securities associated with the sale of strategic shareholdings increased more than expected. The full-year forecast was revised upward after factoring in the impact of the situation in the Middle East, securing raw materials and passing on part of the increase in raw material prices to customers. The dividend forecast was increased to strengthen shareholder returns in light of the earnings recovery and additional extraordinary gains from the sale of strategic shareholdings.
